Through out this year the Mongols invaded Hungary and caused mass destruction throughout the country and ended up killing or enslaving more that half the country. This was a turning point in Hungary because they had learned way to defend their land and stay safe. They did this by building stone castles and this worked later when the Mongols came back for a second attack and the Hungarians won.

In 1867 Ferenec Deak led a Hungarian delegation and came to an agreement with the Hashburgs to have a duel monarchy called Austria-Hungary. This was a major turning point for Hungary because after this agreement peace was spread throughout the land.

At the beginning World War I, Germany and Austria-Hungary were allied. After having thousands of their people sent to war to die for a different country Hungary set up their first government system and became the Republic of Hungary. The Treaty of Trianon caused the country to split up and thats what gave the shape that Hungary has today.

On this day in Hungary many years ago a revolution broke out restoring the democracy and government in Hungary. Although the Soviet Army came and took over a couple days later killing over three thousand Hungarians. This specific moment was their post war victory and it was a significant moment for Hungary.
